Boat Racing


The Frank Hansen Memorial Boat Race returns to Angle Lake this year from September 9th through the 11th. You can expect to see continuing competition among the different classes featuring the Junior Series Hydroplanes, Outboard Runabouts, and the popular Tunnel Boats! 

However, the race organizers have kicked it up a notch this year by achieving Seafair Community Partner status; expanding the event to include an additional day for the community to meet the racers, their families and, view the boats up close and; Angle Lake is now the host location for this year's Seafair J-Series Hydroplane Race Cup.

About 'SOA'
The Seattle Outboard Association was founded in 1929 to organize outboard hydroplane racing in the greater Seattle area. Seattle outboard association is an affiliate through APBA (American Powerboat Association). 

This organization is a proud boat racing club that started the careers of professional hydroplane drivers Chip Hanauer, JW Myers, Greg Hopp and J Michael Kelly!
