Like A Good Neighbor, Lonnie Is Always There!

The Good Neighbor Recognition Program is a city-wide recognition program, where SeaTac community members are encouraged to nominate individuals and/or groups for their acts of neighborly/community goodwill. Nominations allow community members to call attention in a positive way to the activities that the nominee has contributed to their neighbors and community by being an example of a ‘good neighbor’.

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce that an Angle Lake neighbor received the following nomination by some “Friends on Angle Lake”. The following is what was submitted in the nomination:
“Lonnie Goulet, currently the President of the Angle Lake Shore Club, is the guiding force and effervescent energy behind the wonderful community based activities on Angle Lake. Without Lonnie’s passionate vision, well this would just be another beautiful lake without any collective community esprit de corps. But more importantly, Lonnie answers seemingly each and every call from his neighbors when things need to be fixed, someone needs a ride, or we all just want to hear a good raucous laugh from the man with the big heart. There is no task too big or mountain too high to climb for Lonnie and his traveling smile and tool box.”

Congratulations Lonnie, on being a nominated community member! Our community is fortunate to have you involved. Awards will be presented to all nominees at the Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, Dec 13th at 7:00PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Please consider attending the awards ceremony in a show of support and appreciation for Lonnie and the other deserving nominees!

Calling All 12's

12’s can do some truly amazing things when we all pull together as one! They can smash world records, being recognized as the noisiest sports venue on the planet; they are often more feared by opposing players, more so than the Legion of Boom creating an average of 2.36 false start penalties per game; and they are even known to create their own recorded earthquake! It is because of this energy that we’re asking all 12’s to band together and focus their collective effort on creating a great Christmas for the less fortunate children in our community by supporting a ‘Holiday of Hope’.

All South End 12’s are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for a child valued at $25 or a gift card from Ross; Kohl’s; Game Stop; or Old Navy to Gregory’s Lounge at the Red Lion Inn and cheer for the Seattle Seahawks during the televised Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. Come prepared to compete for prizes in the Best Touchdown Dance Competition after each Seahawk 6 point score! There will also be a raffle drawing for prizes for those who have donated.

What: Holiday of Hope Toy and Gift Drive
Where: Gregory’s at the Red Lion Inn. 18220 International Blvd.
When: Sunday, November 27th start at 12:30 PM
Why: To support a generous cause, a great team and have a fantastic time do it!

Let the goodness of the 12’s shine through this Holiday Season and let your generosity bring the joy of the season to a child in need while we have fun as a community cheering for our Hawks!

It is our hope this holiday to see you there!

It's a Most Busy Time of the Year

As the Christmas holiday approaches things at the North Pole are really starting to heat up with all shifts running full tilt at the workshop. While this leaves the elves little time for anything else, this allows time for Santa to plan his visits to his most favorite place on earth – Angle Lake!

Santa looks forward to these special visits each year, an opportunity to meet and greet children around the lake when the kids are awake! However, Santa can’t do it all and is asking for help from the grownups to assist in purchasing, preparations, serving and clean up. No major commitment required, a few hours at most will certainly help. Please contact Julie Hill at (206) 355-6460.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

What better way to get in the holiday spirit than by bringing your family, friends and neighbors together to help light this year’s tree? The evening will begin at 5:30 PM at the home of Rodger and Lisa May. ALSC will be serving up light snacks and hot refreshments while the crowd waits in anticipation for St. Nicholas arrival. Santa will greet the kids with candy canes and help us to countdown the lighting of the holiday lights, whence we’ll all join in singing Christmas carols around the lighted trees!

What: Angle Lake Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Where: May Residence at 4317 So. 188th Street

CHRISTMAS BOATS AND SANTA’S CRUISE

We’re very fortunate to have Santa Claus to make a return stop to visit with the children on Angle Lake! As in year’s past Shore Club members will be taking Santa around the lake by way of decorated Pontoon Boat on Saturday Evening. The number of locations he’ll visit will be limited and stops will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis until the maximum number of six stops is reached. If you are interested reserving a stop and are willing to have other neighbors gather at your location, please send an email to anglelakesc@gmail.com before December 4th. We’ll post a final list of scheduled stops on the blog the week of the event and encourage all who are interested visiting with Santa to gather at the schedules locations.

Picture if you will....

Waiters waiting with fellow Trick or Treaters

The ALSC Spooktacular Boo Crew braved the rain and plied the waters of Angle Lake on Sunday October 30th to greet the local area children dressed in costume and present them with a gift bag filled with Halloween Treats.

While the weather was very drippy and soggy and created a rather dreary evening – the turnout was far from dismal! We ended up handing out every last bag with none to spare yet amazingly, not a single child was left without a treat bag…

Scary, yes!  Lucky, well...no - I call that perfect planning!

Thanks to all who helped on this event and to those who came out to greet us!
