Pull up a chair to watch or you may choose to decorate your trike, bike, scooter, wagon, dog, yourself! and join the parade! The parade starts at the corner of 33rd Av S & S. 194th St and then turns right to proceed down S 192nd St and then right on 39th Av and back around to S 194th St ending at the Manor Club Beach Lot for a patriotic sing along and ice cream social. Yum!

11:00 am – Bud Jones Memorial Run/Walk Around the Lake
Compete against your neighbors for bragging rights and prizes – or win the trophy as the fastest runner to complete the course around the perimeter of the lake first.   Race will begin at Post 35.  Registration opens at 10:45 am; Walkers depart at 11:00; Runners start at 11:30 – awards presented at noon.

01:00 pm – Live Music on Stage at the Park

01:00 pm – Dock / Beach Decoration Judging
Let those creative juices flow in a competition to come up with the most impressive Independence Day dock display. Wow the socks off our judges to win a prize of $100 Cash Prize for First Place! $75; $50; $25; or Beach towel will be awarded for 2nd – 10th place respectively.

03:00 pm – Swim Races
Okay all you guppies; minnows; barracudas; sharks; flounders; whales or whichever you perceive yourself. Time to get your swim suits on and get ready to compete for prizes and Trophy as the fastest of all swimmers!  We'll be assembling at 2:45 on the shores at Gregg and Marsha Louvier's Beach (the large Lighted Cross from the water - or Post 46 from 46th Street). Plenty of parking on the grass. Cash prizes awarded to the fastest children, other valuable prizes will be awarded to fastest adults!

03:30 pm – Boat Races (aprox.)
Immediately following the swim races – the attention will shift to boat racing. If it floats then you can race it! Just show up in some kind of water craft and we’ll find a category to put you in and you’ll be ready to join in the fun and paddle, pedal or row your way to victory.  Prizes will be awarded for fastest competitors.

7:30 pm – Decorated Boat Parade
Pontoon boats; ski boats; outboard motor boats – and hey, if you think you can keep up in a row boat or peddle boat, then fall in line with the parade of boats that will circle the lake spreading additional holiday cheer! In similar fashion with our Annual Christmas Boat Parade except we’re asking that you decorate your boat in patriotic red, white, and blue affair instead.  And while Santa Clause might not be there, Uncle Sam just may make an appearance!

10:00 pm – The 4th of July Finale
Due to unfortunate circumstances, the Shore Club Members and their neighbors will not be producing a fireworks show this year.  However, the City of SeaTac with additional sponsorship support from their commercial sponsors will produce a fireworks show launching from the public park fishing docks. The display will not be visible from the northwest and northeast shorelines, therefore all residents are invited to view the show by boat or make arrangements with neighbors for viewing from the South and West shores.

The Board Members of the Angle Lake Shore Club wish to remind our neighbors that possession and discharge of private fireworks is illegal within SeaTac city limits.

A special shout out in recognition to the many volunteers who donate their time to help plan, coordinate and execute these events. Speaking on behalf of the community, your efforts are most appreciated!

Have a Happy and Safe Independence Day Celebration!

Recongnizing Good Deeds

It’s time to start feeling better about life in SeaTac and a good way to start is by recognizing neighbors who help to make SeaTac a better place to live!

Do you have a neighbor who tends to go the extra mile and performs notable contributions toward improving the quality of life for those who live on your street, in your neighborhood, or in the community? The City of SeaTac is sponsoring a Good Neighbor Award to recognize those individuals who perform selfless acts of kindness and promote good will and call attention in a positive way to the benefits of being a good neighbor. Community members are nominated by their peers and the award recipients will be chosen from those submissions.

The 2015 Good Neighbor Award is focused on noteworthy acts having occurred between January 2014 and July 2015.  Nominations will be accepted through July 2015, and the award winners will be announced at the 2015 SeaTac International Festival held at Angle Lake Park on Sept. 12-13.  The recognition program will award one Good Neighbor Award finalist and three honorable mentions;  all nominees will be recognized.

Nomination guidelines and forms are available online through this LINK or by contacting Resource Conservation/Neighborhood Programs Coordinator Trudy Olson at 206.973.4763.  Print copies of the nomination forms are also available at City Hall third floor permit counter area and the North SeaTac Community Center.

Nominations will be accepted until July 31, 2015.
