I Spy Through My Camera's Eye...

If it has been suggested to you before that you ought to be in pictures – you might find that you’re already there!
A collection of pictures from our two popular summer events has been uploaded and posted to the Angle Lake Shore Club photo archives. The albums contain images from the 4th of July and the ever-popular Tasty Tapas with both events featuring many of our neighbors and their guests. You are welcome to download and share with your family and friends.

Also note, the Manor Club has recently revamped and bolstered their photo archives as well. Neighbor Val V. has been the driving force behind the upgraded archive which also features many photos including video montages created by Val!

Through the many photo albums from either web site, you can relive each of those precious moments again – or see what fun you’ve missed!

They’re Back!... Ten Years Straight

For the tenth year, swimmers numbering in the hundreds will gather once again on the shores of Angle Lake eager to participate in the ‘last’ 1 and 2 mile open water competition swim of the season.

September 14th, 2019
Angle Lake, SeaTac WA
8:30 am Check-In for all events

The last open water swim of the Season... for youth and masters swimmers. This year's Last Gasp of Summer includes the USMS One and Two Mile events, Julie Montiel Fun Swim, USA One, Two Mile and 500-meter events.
Angle Lake has become a favorite location for this event. The course will run nearly the entire length of the east-west leg and will be marked with large buoys. Motorboats, kayaks, and lifeguards will be strategically located around the course to monitor race operations and lend assistance if necessary. Nearly 150 Master Swimmers are expected to compete in one of four events, while Youth will have their own separate events to compete in.  The course will be cleared by noon and the event is expected to conclude no later than 1:00 PM.

Volunteer
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of volunteer effort to pull off an event of this magnitude and the organizers could always use additional help. If interested in lending a hand, simply show up no later than 8:30 AM and ask for an assignment including if you’d like to help patrol the course from your kayak. All volunteers will be welcome to join the athletes enjoying a free picnic lunch.

A history page has been added to The Last Gasp of Summer website to capture all the fun facts from previous years!

The Return of Racing on Angle Lake

Seattle Outboard Association (SOA) returns to Angle Lake to host the Frank Hansen Memorial Race Regatta this weekend, September 7th and 8th!
Angle Lake Park
19408 International Boulevard
SeaTac, WA 98188
Time: 10 AM to 6 PM

Just like last year, boat racing will occur both Saturday and Sunday on the East-West leg of the lake. Spectators will have great views from the park hillside and again be welcome into the Race Pits** to see the boats up close and meet the racers with their crew. For safety reasons, the park beach will be restricted to race operations only.

The western most portions of the East-West leg of the lake will also be off limits for public access however, the Shore Club will locate several of the ALSC Barges to form a ‘log boom’ on the eastern straightaway allowing spectators to assemble tables and chairs to watch the race action up close!
If you prefer to remain on shore, you can still hear all the race announcements by tuning your FM radio to 90.5! This service is made available to the community by Allan Freedman, President of the Mark Eleven Condominium Association and longtime broadcast authority who is generously donating his time and equipment to enable low power FM transmission of all the tower communications!

Thank you to race sponsor MasterPark Airport Valet Parking, the City of SeaTac and the many Angle Lake Resident Volunteers for helping to make this possible.

** Entry into the race pits is restricted to spectators who have signed a waiver and are wearing close toed footwear.
