Continuing in our series of news interests beyond the shoreline of Angle Lake, this time we’re sharing a report on the proliferation of multi-family housing projects that are planned over the next few years. All of the project sites are located within the Angle Lake Sound Transit Station Area located southwest of Angle Lake.
- 19825 State Route 99: International Boulevard Self Storage will be the site for a seven story Mixed Use Apartment Building featuring 289 units.
- 2929 So 200th Street: The Sea-Tac, LLC project will also be a seven story apartment complex featuring 108 units.
Additionally two Sound Transit Surplus Parcels designated for Transit Oriented Development were recently awarded to the following:
- ST-TOD North located at 26th Ave So and South 200th Street: Has been awarded to Mercy Housing Northwest and will offer 85 affordable units and feature ground floor commercial and/or office space.
- ST-TOD South also located at the intersection of South 200th street and 26th Ave So: Will feature 230 units of multi-family housing.
“It is clear we have an affordable housing crisis in the Puget Sound region, and I’m proud that Sound Transit is playing a role in helping to address it,” said Sound Transit board member and King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove. “Of the 2,500 housing units in development or already built, 1,600 of those will be affordable housing. These SeaTac projects are a positive step in addressing a critical community need.” Construction is expected to begin 2022 and 2024 respectively.
Three other sites that are currently available for redevelopment or will soon be are:
- 2916 So 200th Street: Angle Lake Mobile Home Park will be closed and clearing will begin late this year.
- 20011 International Blvd: Bullpen (and surrounding properties) is still available for purchase, speculation is that the recent housing project announcements will bring additional purchase interest to this property.
- 20008 International Blvd: rumor has it that the 7-11 store across the street from the Bullpen is closing and will be up for sale April 1st (no fooling!).
