- Connection: Create a bridge between transit and the places that it serves
- Celebrate: Create a space to share and build South King County culture
Two inaugural events are scheduled for two upcoming weekends:
- The Open House: Sunday, October 22nd, 11am-1pm
- The Grand Opening: Sunday, October 29th, 11am-2pm
The Roadhouse is a nod to the musical history in this area. In the 1930s through the 1960s, a number of dance halls were located in South King County, midway between the urban centers of Seattle and Tacoma. The most well-known was the Spanish Castle, which featured local musicians and national acts, as well as the first on-stage appearance of a young Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix's song "Spanish Castle Magic" was inspired by the Spanish Castle.
The Roadhouse is a welcome addition to the SeaTac community, and is sure to become a popular spot for people of all ages to enjoy live music.
"The Roadhouse is a fantastic new addition to the SeaTac community," said SeaTac Councilmember Peter Kwon. "It's a place where people can come together to enjoy live music, celebrate our diverse culture, and learn about our musical history. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this new venue."
Conclusion:
The Roadhouse is a new community-focused performance space that is set to open in SeaTac at the Angle Lake Light Rail Station Garage. The Roadhouse will feature free, all-age entertainment that celebrates the musical culture of South King County.
