If you regularly travel Military Road between 46th Ave S. and South 198th Street expect traffic flow disruptions beginning as early as August 18th.
The Highline Water District will begin construction on Project 13-1B replacing the Angle Lake Water Main starting mid-August and is expected to finish in December. The project location is along Military Road S. from 46th Ave S. to S. 198th St.
Letters have gone out to alert businesses and residences that are in proximity to the project location, however no other signage has been posted to alert commuters of the need to reduce travel to a single lane creating disruption to the normal traffic flow. If you frequently use this route you might plan an alternate route around the area, choosing I-5 or International Blvd instead or at least allow for extra time to pass through the impacted areas.
Details About Project 13-1
The District owns and maintains small 4" and 6" diameter water main along the south and east side of Angle Lake in the City of SeaTac. The main is located within existing easements along the lake and is nearing the end of its useful life. The proposed project will replace approximately 7,000 lf of small diameter main with new, modern materials.
The District applied for and was selected for low-interest Public Works Trust Fund monies for the project. The anticipated project cost is $2.61 million. The project will be phased. Project 13-1B refers to the first of two phases of construction that will replace aging water mains in the Angle Lake area. The first phase construction is anticipated to be completed by December 2014. The second phase is currently in the design and easement acquisition stage. If you are impacted by the location of the second phase, you will be contacted directly. Construction for the second phase is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2015.
