Meet Your Next City Manager and Voice Your Concerns

We're excited to announce a unique opportunity for our community: a chance to meet face-to-face with the two finalists vying for the position of City Manager. This is your chance to engage directly with those who could shape the future of our city.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 6, 4-6 p.m. 

Where: SeaTac City Hall, Council Chambers 

This is not just an opportunity to meet potential leaders, but also a platform to express your concerns. As we approach the upcoming July 4th celebrations at Angle Lake Park, we encourage you to share your thoughts on the annual fireworks display and other city-sponsored activities.

Your input is invaluable. Come and make your voice heard!

Letter from the ALSC President: Fireworks Status

The following information is presented on behalf of John Bennett, President, addressed to the Angle Lake Shore Club Members and Angle Lake Community Neighbors:

Good afternoon to you all.

As many of you are aware, the city is in the middle of putting together the 2025/2026 annual budget.  The city council is reviewing all expenses, including the costs of all of the 4th of July events.  No matter what the outcome is, one thing is certain:

The City of SeaTac will no longer be participating in any fireworks show of any kind for the community.

I want to make sure that everyone clearly understands this, as the city’s position is that it can no longer support any firework programs.  Right now, one of the debates that is going on is, in part, what programs and services can be reduced and/or eliminated.  This includes the 4th of July festivities.

Here's what you can do:

• Contact your Civic Representatives: Reach out to the Mayor and City Council members directly to express your concerns. Send your comments to the entire group via email at CityCouncil@seatacwa.gov or telephone each Council Member individually.

• Attend the November 19th Special City Council Meeting and deliver public comments to let your councilmembers know how important Independence Day celebrations are to you. This will be your last chance to voice your opinion in front of the council.

• Share Your Thoughts: Post your comments on social media and tag your Council Representatives. Use the hashtag #SeaTac4th to help amplify your voice.

The Angle Lake Shore Club is currently taking pledges to ensuring that we can at least enjoy a true, old fashioned 4th of July Fireworks show, just like last year!  But we still need everyone’s help! So, we are simply asking that you pledge whatever you can reasonably do to ensure that the fireworks will happen again in 2025.  We are getting close to our goal and will accept any help you can give.  Also please make sure you contact the city council to voice your opinions on this and/or any other matters.

Lastly, in 2026 we will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of our country’s independence.  If all activities are negatively impacted for 2025, then there is a concern for what 2026 will look like.  Once something is cut due to budgetary restrictions, it can be hard to get them back.

Fireworks Fundraiser Update and Call to Action!

Hello Neighbors,

We're thrilled to share that our Independence Day fireworks fundraiser is almost there! Thanks to your generous contributions, we've made significant progress towards our $25,000 goal. Your support means the world to us, and we're one step closer to bringing a dazzling fireworks display to SeaTac on July 4th, 2025.

But here's where we need your help even more:

While we've been working hard on fundraising, the City of SeaTac is currently facing a budget crisis. They're exploring ways to cut costs, and one proposal includes eliminating all park activities on Independence Day. This means that if the proposal passes, the Angle Lake Shore Club would be responsible for covering the entire cost of entertaining the thousands of people who typically visit the park on this holiday.

We believe that a vibrant Independence Day celebration is an important part of our community spirit. It's a chance for neighbors to come together, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of our city and celebrate our freedom. We feel the City should continue to support this program financially. We urge you to get involved and voice your opinion on this proposal.

• Attend an upcoming City Council Meeting: Plan to attend one of the following council meetings and deliver public comment to let your councilmembers know how important Independence Day celebrations are to you.
• Thursday, Oct 18 at 3:00 pm. Council Budget Workshop #3
• Tuesday, Oct 22 at 6:00 pm. Regular Council Meeting.

• Contact City Officials: Reach out to the Mayor and City Council members directly to express your concerns. Send comments via email to CityCouncil@seatacwa.gov or telephone each council member individually.

• Share Your Thoughts: Post your comments on social media and tag relevant city officials. Use the hashtag #SeaTac4th to help amplify your voice.
