Easter Bunny Dock Hop
On the morning of Sunday, April 21st, Bruce Goulet and his volunteer crew escorted the Easter Bunny around the lake to preselected locations to present awaiting children with an assortment of Easter Goodies.
Special mention of appreciation goes to Nancy Jones for her efforts in coordinating the Bunny appearance; Kerry Steinke for arranging the dock stops; Annie Goulet in helping to create the gift assortments; and to Tani Rae Standridge for capturing all the photos from the event – which can be viewed HERE.
ALSC Fishing Derby
With the promise to participants of not two, but three freshly flown Alaska King Salmon on the barbecue this year plus a treasure trove of prizes, the crowd count numbered over 180 participants this year! This is believed to be the largest draw to date!
WA State Fish and Wildlife reported depositing a total of 5,500 catchable rainbow trout into the lake on April 1st (no foolin’ – that’s what they claim). However by the time the derby rolled around on Sunday, April 28th, the resulting four weeks in between allowed these newly planted trout enough time to locate their preferred hiding spot as less fish that is a typical count were brought in for measuring.
Richard Rock (multi-year winner for the largest trout) was recognized as the first one to limit at 9:30 AM. Longest trout in 2019 was recorded at 12 ½ inches and was awarded to our new reigning champion Cris Pickett! Pickett was registered as part of the 1 to 8 year-old bracket so it seems he’ll have many years ahead of him to reclaim the annual title in the future. This year netted Cris the $119.00 first prize. Pictures of the event are available for viewing HERE.
Thank you to all who came out to participate in either event, we hope you had a wonderful time!
