Yes Virginia, There Will Be a Christmas Party!

"Virginia, your little friends were wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except for the rumors they hear. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds." …

As an example in real life for the magic within the season, when Nancy Erickson stepped forward to offer the Jones Family Beach House as the site for the 2017 Members Only Christmas Party, it was like our own little Christmas miracle had been bestowed upon the Angle Lake Shore Club.

ALSC Members Only Christmas Party
Saturday, December 2nd
4:00 PM until 8:00 PM

Reservations are requested by Saturday, November 25th for planning purposes. However, if you don’t make that date – don’t fret! There are still spots available and we’ll be accepting membership renewals and party ticket purchases at the door. For location details, order form and membership renewal application please CLICK HERE.

All active Shore Club Members are welcome to join us for an evening of socializing, munching, sipping, and sharing in much joy and laughter! The event will feature mouthwatering hors d’oeuvres, fully catered dinner, and hosted bar. The annual members meeting will also be held to nominate board members, hold elections, introduce new members, recognize generous volunteers and share the latest information about the hugely successful barge program and the upcoming events for 2018.

Your current Board Members are  looking forward to seeing you there!

No Location. No Party.

It is with regret that the ALSC Board announces to the community that our annual Members Christmas Party is at risk of being canceled. Quite simply, we are approaching the critical date for a binary decision:  Have the party or not.

The reason? Although a ton of effort has been invested to locate a member homeowner willing to open their home to host the party, success has not yet been found.

The Christmas Party Committee is now verifying to see if either the Des Moines Field House or the Normandy Park Cove may be available for lease on December 2nd. If neither one of these two locations are available and no one else steps forward no later than November 17th, we will have no other choice than to cancel the party for 2017.

What does it take to host the party?

We’ve been averaging a total of about 80 guests, including the Shore Club Board Members. You are simply required to open your doors to our Christmas Party Team to load in and then Saturday morning the team will decorate and arrange as needed per the homeowner direction. Early Afternoon the caterers will show to set up, guests will arrive at 4 PM and are scheduled to leave by 8 PM (or later at the homeowners discretion). Most will be cleaned up that evening afterward else an hour or two will be needed Sunday to get every back into its original place and condition.

As you may have noticed, very little involvement is required by the host family – a couple decisions and opening their doors a few times and that’s it!  The Christmas Part Team takes care of all the rest! Ensuring that everything is like it was originally when they leave.

If you would like to be considered as the 2017 location, please contact Julie Hill no later than November 17th. Else, refer to the blog for a final GO / NO GO decision to be posted.

What a Neat Treat to Meet the Peeps!

Not since 2006, over a decade ago since we last celebrated a completely dry Halloween on Angle Lake! Not just dry but uncharacteristically warm as well! The Boo Boat Cruisers were met not only with an amazingly temperate day but there were also over 80 costumed kids and family stationed at thirteen points around the lake waiting to be greeted.

Aboard the Spooktacular Boo Boat where the Ghoulie Brothers (Bruce Goulet as Friday the 13th Jason and Lonnie Goulet as Halloween’s Michael Myer) and by their side were their brides, PacMan Sandy and Day of the Dead Skeleton Annie. Annie Oakley (Julie Hill) was there to ‘shoot’ photos while Duck Dynasty (Fuzz Hill) was on hand to call the kids together.

Cruise over to our ALSC Photo Album to view all the PICS captured during the event.

A sincere thank you to the ALSC team for the many efforts it takes to pull off an event like this. And thank you to the kids and their family who turned out, without you we wouldn’t be doing this! Thank you for your participation.
