Fireworks Preparation

Have you ever wondered what it entails to put our fireworks show together?  I had never given it a thought until faced with the task of actually having to do it so I thought I’d share it with you all.

The first thing we need is to define the show and determine a budget.  We can do this once we know what money is available to us through your donations and any auxiliary funding.   Of course this cannot be done until we know if the City is co-sponsoring the show and if so, what amount will be made available to us.  It is important to note that to receive this money we must make a formal request for it each year and it is the council who is responsible for determining if the City will (continue to) co-sponsor the show. Funding for this year’s show was not approved until the council meeting of April 13th where in the council passed the consent agenda by a vote of 5 to 2 authorizing funds in the amount of $10,000.00.  From there a contract was prepared and entered into between the ALSC and The City.     MORE...

Nice article Lonnie, and great job of always putting this together for our enjoyment on the 4th of July! Lets hope the City keeps kicking in with some funds, its a fantastic show for the money that is spent and a great setting for those watching from the Angle Lake Park and homes around the lake. Maybe Dean across the lake will store the barge(Aircraft Carrier)so he can land his planes on it!?!
Thanks again Sandy and Bruce #21
